Episode 8
TODAY’S READING:
In the day of my trouble, I call upon you, for you answer me.
Psalm 86:7
Today I was reading out of Psalm, and this one verse really stood out to me. In the day of my trouble, I call upon you, for you answer me.
Maybe you can relate to this. But sometimes, there are days where I feel clouded, and I feel as if my goals are all over the place. Sometimes I feel as if I am struggling to get alone with God. Sometimes, everything I say agitates others. There are days where I am overstimulated. There are days where I just want to be alone. There are days where I want to cry and days where I want to run away.
Navigating this new normal hasn’t been easy for me. I really want to just walk into my favorite restaurant without worrying if the person next to my booth could potentially have come into contact with the virus.
Yesterday I celebrated my birthday with my roommates and some of my closest friends inside my home. I was lucky enough to share a taco night with them, but the truth is I really wanted to be at Disney like I was the year before.
It’s easy to be consumed with wanting to be in a different place, but we have to surrender our everyday and hand it over to God. When we are troubled, hand it over. Whether it’s because of a huge life moment that would define our years to come or something small like a frustrating day at work… let’s give it to Him. He promises to answer us. He promises to comfort us. He promises to fight our battles for us.
Don’t be ashamed to bring it to Him. No matter how big or small your troubles may be, He has an answer for us.
PRAYER
Lord, thank you! Thank you for being our comforter. Thank you for allowing us to burden you with our troubles. You make it so easy for us to come to you. We know that you are closer than our very breath. We thank you for being the same God on the mountain tops and in the valleys. We love you with everything in us. When we have troubled days, we remember the best is yet to come. In your mighty name, we pray, Amen!
