Episode 21

TODAY’S READING:

We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is our Father Who shows us loving-kindness and our God Who gives us comfort. He gives us comfort in all our troubles. Then we can comfort other people who have the same troubles. We give the same kind of comfort God gives us.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Thank you so much for praying along with me every morning. Devotional time has quickly become my favorite thing to do. Spending time writing these, recording these, connecting with new people every single day is such a blessing.

On Friday late at night, I lost my grandmother. It was truly a very heartbreaking weekend. There was a point this weekend that I sat in my tears, and I heard the lord speak to me. It had been so long since I allowed myself to feel grief. In the past few years, I had learned how to blocked myself from hurting, from feeling truly sad. I would cry in every movie, but never when it came to losing. I had grown skin so thick from previous heartbreaks that I wouldn’t allow myself to feel sad. Yet this weekend was different, and there I was, surrounded by complete sadness and grief. In a moment, I was comforted by Jesus. It’s as if he spoke straight to my soul. I was reminded of His glory and the truth that there is a life after this one. My grandmother was dancing in heaven, and how happy was I that she was being taken care of by Him.

Then I felt him whisper. I comfort you so that you can comfort others. This verse was absolutely perfect for what I was feeling, and I think it can serve us all as we go about our lives. It’s one of those principles we need to get into our spirits.

God sends us through the fire, he sends us on journeys, He celebrates with us on mountain tops, and he mourns with us on Valley’s, and you might think you yourself, “Wow, how lucky am I to have a God that wants to spend every minute with us.” and while that is so true, that is only half of it, friend. God sends you to these places, he walks you through pain, he celebrates with you on mountain tops, he comforts you in the valley so that we can do the same thing with the people around us. If we are to be the hands and feet of Jesus, it means loving on others the way he loves on us. But it also means comforting others the way he comforts us.

My prayer is we say yes to the calling of comforting one another. I pray in this life; we truly become the hands and feet of Jesus for the people around us.

PRAYER

Lord, thank you for another beautiful morning. Thank you for being our comforter and confidant. You show us grace, mercy, and love. You celebrate our highs, and you comfort us in the lows. We pray we can extend the same level of grace, love, and ultimate comfort to those around us. I pray we walk around with empathy for one another. We all have different stories; we are all walking on a different paths. My prayer today and every day are that we lean onto you Lord, I pray we listen to the Holy Spirit. When you nudge us to talk to someone, I pray we say yes. I pray our stories can impact others. We do this in your Holy name, Amen!
