Episode 25

TODAY’S READING:

For freedom, Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

Galatians 5:1

Good morning! Happy (early) Fourth!

Today is the day, my friend. Today HAMILTON IS LIVE ON DISNEY+ Wow, do I just love this musical. I am super excited to watch Lin Manuel on my TV screen. Someone tag him on my podcast post on IG so that he can see this! Haha

But no, really, the Broadway Musical is all about the founding fathers of the United States and what they did declare freedom over our country. I know we still have work to do for our brothers and sisters that reside in the states, but the story is quite remarkable, and I can’t wait to watch the original cast perform this on stage. Now, I know I have readers and listeners from around the world, so our history and the freedom we enjoy might not be the same, but there is one freedom that we all share.

The freedom Christ bought for us.

We never have to go back to our old ways of life. Ever. What Christ did on calvary 2,000 years will never be topped. There is no founding father or president, or leader in this world that can ever outdo God. The freedom he paid for with his life was freedom from death. Not literal death; we know we will all one day pass over to heaven. But freedom from the death of sin. You are not bound to shackles on this earth. You don’t have to be a slave to addiction; you don’t have to be a slave to money; you don’t have to be a slave to power or control; you don’t have to be a slave to food! We have freedom in Him. Let us not turn to the things of this earth but look to his mighty name.

PRAYER

God, thank you for sending your son to us. Jesus, there is no one on this beautiful earth that can outdo you. While we celebrate the freedom of our country, may we never ever forget the freedom you bought for us with your life. Thank you for taking the keys of hell. When you resurrected, you sealed the promise for us. We never have to be bound to the things of this earth because we get to live in eternity with you. We absolutely love you; we honor you, we thank you. In your Holy Name, we pray! Amen!
