Episode 42

TODAY’S READING:

Disregard them! They are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”

Matthew 15:14

I don’t care if you lead toddlers at home or if you are a CEO of a huge organization. Every single one of us is people of influence.

Maybe right now, you doubt me. You are thinking to yourself that you are not a leader, but I disagree. Someone somewhere looks to you for inspiration and advice even when they don’t ask you straight-out.

So the question is, how are we supposed to act?

Well, let’s first think about how people go wrong.

The blind leading the blind! I love this verse. It’s a representation of a lot of problems in our world. Think about it; one blind person leads another blind person, and so forth. That’s how companies crumble. That’s why hospitals can be world-renown, yet there is one floor, one specialty department that cannot function properly.

Our job is to be the change for our circle of influence. If we lead them correctly, it will start a ripple effect that would lead to glory, not falling into a pit. Our job is to lead others with confidence and assurance.

How can you be a great leader?

Well, Luke 22:25-27 says:

25 Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. 26 But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest and the one who rules like the one who serves. 27 For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

That right there! ^ That can shift your whole perspective. Imagine if we started introducing ourselves as our servers do when we go to our favorite restaurant. “Hi, my name is Alison, and I will be your server for today.”

Serve the people around you. If you serve them with love and gentleness and listen to what they need and give them the tools at your disposal, you will influence lives. Don’t be blinded by your own role/goals/job that you don’t remember to serve the people around you. Like I said before. Some people watch you from afar and look up to you. Make sure that you are serving them too.

PRAYER

Father God, we thank you for being such a pillar of strength in our life. Sometimes it’s hard to serve others when all we want to do is work on our own personal jobs. You’ve called us to be the hands and feet of Jesus. We are to lead each other away from pits. We are to serve the people around us. Show us how. Speak to us when we question what to do next. We love you, and we honor you. It is in your Holy name that we pray, Amen!

Hi, I'm Ali.
I want to encourage you on your faith journey!

I'm the coffee obsessed baker from Miami, FL who got too busy to find time to read scripture everyday. I knew my life was better with Jesus and I knew I wasn't the only one struggling with finding alone time with God every morning, so I put my dreams of opening a bakery aside and set out to produce a five minute daily devotional. What first started as an email chain, has now flourished into a beautiful community and I am so happy you are here!

MY TESTIMONY

We are a faith based community in pursuit of daily prayer. All it takes is five minutes - we know you're busy but He loves you still.
