Episode 47

TODAY’S READING:

Lord, so many times I fail; I fall into disgrace.

But when I trust in you, I have a strong and glorious presence

protecting and anointing me. Forever you’re all I need!

Psalm 73:26

So many times, I fail.

That line hits me every time I read it. To me, it’s so relatable. There are so many seasons where the “so many times” are different.

In High School, there were…

So many times, I told myself not to spread gossip, but I did it.

In College, there were…

So many times, I told myself I wasn’t going to drink that much, and I did it anyway.

In a season of trying to commit to my health, there were…

So many times, I told myself I would go to the gym and didn’t

So many times, I told myself I was going to order the grilled chicken at the restaurant, and I didn’t.

In any season of life, there were…

So many times, I told myself I was going to journal every day, and I didn’t.

So many times, I told myself I am going to pray, and I didn’t.

Most of these so many times end in my heartache. Wishing I was further along, stronger with myself, closer to God, etc. You name it.

Our flesh fails us. Our habits fail us. Our systems fail us.

But this verse says… But when we have trust in Him.

And that get’s me fired up because it means we don’t have to fall into the same pattern every single season. When we have trust in Him, we have a strong and glorious presence protecting and anointing us. That’s God himself.

Remember, we fail the systems around us. If you don’t have a system in place, you’ll always trust yourself and never God. Create a system that honors your time in the mornings with Him, and everything else will fall into place.

PRAYER

Jesus, forever with you is all that we’ve ever asked for. Your presence and protection allow us to live a life of freedom. We can do anything we set our hearts to as long as we trust in you. Lord, our flesh will fail us, and so many times, we will find ourselves repeating old habits, but today we ask to be set free. We don’t want to continue to fall into those patterns; we pray to have your protection and guidance in our lives. We understand we cannot pray for a new system; we must create it, but we pray for your strength when changing our habits. It is in your Holy name that we pray, Amen!

Hi, I'm Ali.
I want to encourage you on your faith journey!

I'm the coffee obsessed baker from Miami, FL who got too busy to find time to read scripture everyday. I knew my life was better with Jesus and I knew I wasn't the only one struggling with finding alone time with God every morning, so I put my dreams of opening a bakery aside and set out to produce a five minute daily devotional. What first started as an email chain, has now flourished into a beautiful community and I am so happy you are here!

MY TESTIMONY

We are a faith based community in pursuit of daily prayer. All it takes is five minutes - we know you're busy but He loves you still.
