I love Mondays!
I know a lot of people don’t like the idea of going back to work after a relaxing weekend. In today’s case, a lot of people will be going back to school, or their kids will be back to school, so I do understand why Mondays tend to be a little hectic. But what if we changed our perspective.
You see, over time, though, I started to appreciate Mondays – It’s the perfect day to set our weekly goals. It’s the perfect day to plan ahead. I can admit I am a list maker, I just love to create my to-do lists, and it makes me happy to cross things off. Now I know some of us to get overwhelmed with goal planning; we are not all wired the same.
But if you would, make a list today and be extremely specific with everything you are praying for and then make an action list of the steps you need to take in order to achieve those dreams. The easiest way to do that is to create small actions that, over time, lead to big goals. Start planting seeds today.
Now, it is proven that God’s plans for our life are beyond what we can even imagine. The catch is that it is according to His time.
So dream a big, dream as big as you can, and watch God outdo that. If you keep your dreams too shallow, he will outdo them, but why would you want Him to outdo your little dream? Why not have Him outdo your big dream?
Picture your plans. They are like flowers in a field. So many dreams and so many prayers you plant every day. Now picture that same field of flowers, and when you look up, it has a forest of trees behind it, and when you look beyond the forest, you see majestic mountains. Those are God’s plans for your life.
So as you write your specific prayers and you start working at achieving them, you’ll notice things will start to go the way you’ve been working towards, and other times, you won’t get what you wanted. Sometimes you won’t get accepted into that program or school that you’ve been praying for. And that’s okay because as God pivot’s your plans, He orchestrates connections you can’t even fathom. Maybe He is going to have you attend your fifth choice in schools because He wants you to meet someone who is going to elevate you in your career, and no other person could have done for you at your number one choice of school.
It doesn’t mean you need to stop working to achieve the scores you need to get into school. You see, in this verse, it says, according to his power that is at work within us. Meaning what we dream he multiplies.
The learning lesson in all of this is to dream big, work towards that goal, and watch God outdo you every single time. Sometimes his plans will take years to unfold before you, but just trust Him throughout the process.
Jesus, we thank you for being the kind of Father that gives us more than we could ever imagine. We sometimes understand you take things away or pivot our plans, and while it hurts us at the moment, we know it’s for your greater plans over our lives. We all have plans, we all have goals, and we are diligent in our works, but we are excited to see your greater plans unfold before our very eyes. We will trust you in the waiting; we will trust you in the working. It is in your Holy Name that we pray, Amen!
