Episode 85

TODAY’S READING:

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Philippians 4:13

Happy Friday! The weekend is finally here.

I wanted to keep today’s Devo short, sweet, and impactful for the three days ahead of you.

2020 has done a lot of things, but it’s also given me my weekends back. This has been the first year that I have had the opportunity to relax without plans. I spent so many weekends this year resting. I truly believe this is why I have been able to commit to this podcast successfully.

Rest is so vital. So why is it so hard for us to take a break?

I think some of us have an innate trait that doesn’t want help from others, including God. We work three times as hard instead of asking others for help. I think that derives from the fear of failure.

How many of us know we can’t be “on” at all times. We need to rest and recharge.

This verse is telling us that God will strengthen us. He will help us through it all.

So give this day to Him, give this weekend to Him.  Let me recharge you. Let Him strengthen you. He can do more in 6 days than you can do in 7.

PRAYER

Lord, thank you for being a safe place to take shelter after a long week. As we take a rest in you, we ask that you continue to strengthen us as we continue to work towards the life you’ve called us to live. Let us not fear; let us know to give in to the idea that we don’t need help. We need you. We need your help. We need your strength. We love you, and we honor you. In your mighty name, we pray, Amen!
