Episode 87

TODAY’S READING:

 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Matthew 6:25-26

 

Happy Tuesday! 

 

This verse is a friendly reminder that your life is so much more than the car you drive, the clothes you wear, the house you live in. 

 

I am here to remind you and to encourage you not to worry about such things. We have a father in heaven who is far greater than we can comprehend.  

 

Look at the birds. They do not sow or reap, yet God feeds them. Meaning they are not working, planting seeds, and waiting for a harvest yet. They are always fed. 

 

I know we are all working. We are dreaming of the home we want to purchase or the apartment overlooking the city. We all have our dream car, our dream wardrobe. We want financial freedom, and we want to enjoy this life by traveling. Today you are going to go to work, and you are going to work hard to bring home a paycheck to buy food and pay for the roof over your head. 

 

But this verse is a friendly reminder that life is so much more than this. Is not life more than food and the clothes you wear? 

 

Life is about loving and serving one another. It’s what yesterday’s prayer was. I know anxiety can hit at any moment. You might not know when your next paycheck will come. Maybe you’ve been furloughed, and you don’t know when you will be asked to return to work. This verse serves as a reminder that God has you in the palm of his hand. 

 

If your business took a hit or if your salary was reduced – God has you in the palm of His hands. Why don’t you let Him worry about your finances? He promises to fight our battles for us. Turn your paycheck to Him, and love and serve the people around you. 

 

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank you for keeping us in the palms of your hand. It’s easy for us to get lost in the dreaming of materialistic items that we lose sight of what this life is really all about. I pray that you redirect us when that happens. Jesus, if someone here today is suffering financially, I pray that you bless them, Father. Take care of their finances. Take care of all of our finances. We surrender it all to you. We know that you will always take care of us. We thank you for the food on the tables, the roofs over our heads, the methods of transportations in our lives, and the ability to understand that your father is always protecting us. We love you, in your Mighty name we pray, Amen!
