Episode 107
TODAY’S READING:
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
Good morning and Happy Tuesday!
I had a tough day yesterday, but I was at peace. Prayer every day has really helped me take on tough days.
There is something so pleasing about knowing that God is with us wherever we go. You can be far from God, but He isn’t far from you.
I like verses that hold command. It’s actionable and great for anyone who likes making lists or enjoys sticking to a plan.
Do not be discouraged.
So much easier said than done at times.
When our plans don’t go as we hoped, it’s easy to feel discouraged. When you take a beating, a workday in and day out, it’s easy to become discouraged. When you look at all of your friends having children, and you are still struggling, it’s easy to feel discouraged.
Every single day presents itself with new obstacles that can paralyze us in fear or discouragement.
Oh, but this verse gives us hope. It promises us that the Lord will be with us wherever we go.
We can become so distant at times. We can run far away. Feel inadequate. Let that self-harming voice creep its way in. We can stop serving those around us. We can start seeking attention in other things, but God will be there. At all times.
There’s no point in running. He will be there. So don’t turn away from him. Turn towards him. Every day we get the opportunity to step boldly into His promises for us. He promises a future. He promises us light in the darkness. He promises us life more abundant. He promises us shelter and refuge. He promises to fight our battles for us.
He can do all things. Therefore we can do all things through Him.
PRAYER
Father God, thank you for yet another Tuesday and another devotional. God, thank you for giving me the words when I don’t have them. May you continue to use these to make our lives better and more dependent on you. We freely turn to you, run towards you and ask that you protect us wherever we go. Thank you for being a safe shelter and a strong shield. Thank you for being the greatest father and friend we could ever hope and dream for. We love you. In your mighty name, we pray, Amen!
