Episode 108

TODAY’S READING:

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

1 Peter 2:9

 

Happy Wednesday! 

 

Yesterday we talked about how God is always there. Everywhere you go, He is with you. 

 

Today I was reading the bible, and this verse caught my attention. 

 

But you are a chosen people, a holy nation, God’s special possession. 

 

Let’s stop there. Think about everything you own – your smartphone, your laptop, your iPad. What means the most to you? I would say my phone if I had to choose between all of those. Now, if you had to choose between your bed and your phone, I would think you’d pick your bed, right? 

 

Now let’s talk about our family. Those are also some of our special possessions. Our significant others. God forbid something tragic happens, but you’d pick them over your bed 10 out of 10 times. 

 

Now would you die on a cross for those that you love so they may continue to live in freedom? Knowing they are going to mess up and most of the time won’t value or comprehend your sacrifice? 

 

Do you see what I am doing here? I am trying to show you how essentially special you are to God, but also how selfless and wonderful He is. 

 

We are his chosen people. The ones he wants to spend eternity with. He loves us. He helps us when we need it. He called us out of the darkness. Just remember where you were before you truly got to know Him. Remember how lonely you were. Remember those destructive thoughts. He called you out of that so you may live boldly today. 

 

I pray today we do just that. Today we commit to living boldly. We commit to praising God in our every action. That means giving without fear of losing. It means walking in the confidence that you truly understand your identity, which is a Child of God. It means taking back your joy from those that stole it – including the news and social media. It means slowing down and finding 30 minutes to just get alone with Him. Try it! Today can be the day your life changes. 

 

PRAYER

Jesus, we can never comprehend how much you truly love us. You’ve placed loved ones in your life so that we can get an idea, but not even that can amount to the love you have for us. Let us walk boldly as we know we are chosen. You chose us. You pulled us from our lonely days, thank you. Thank you for being our savior, our shelter, our fighter. We confide in you. We honor you. We praise you every day. In your mighty name, we pray, Amen!
