TODAY’S READING:

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

James 1:17

 

I have been in Nashville for the last few days, and I am freezing! It’s really not that cold, there is no ice outside or anything like that, but I am just not used to this kind of weather. If you live somewhere where it snows, I applaud you. I don’t think I could ever do it.

 

So let’s get on with today’s Devo.

 

I love this verse! I love the last line. Let’s read that last bit again, “coming down from the Father of lights whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”

 

God is constant. He doesn’t flake on his plans. He doesn’t give you a gift and then later decides if it was a good choice for you or not.

 

Think about it. Every good and every perfect gift is from above.

 

Have you ever regifted something that was given to you? Maybe you just didn’t find a use for it. Imagine if the person who originally gave it to you saw it at another friend’s house. Wouldn’t that strike up an interesting conversation?

 

I would imagine it would truly hurt the person who gave it to you. So imagine how God feels when you toss your gifts to the side. When we find now real use for them.

 

God didn’t make you by mistake. He gave you everything you need to fulfill your destiny and your time here on earth.

 

YOU are so unique. Embrace everything He has given you. Some of you have the gift of wisdom; others have the gift of faith; some of you have the gift of organization and administration. Some of you have the gift of decrement.

 

Whatever your gift is, fully embrace it. Beyond spiritual gifts, you’ve been given personality gifts. Some of you are witty, others of you are funny, some of you can draw, while others can sing. Some of you are athletic; others are tech-savvy. Some of you have been given the gift of communication.

 

I don’t care how old you are. I want you to grab and pen and paper or take out a note on your phone and write down all the gifts that God gave you. I want you to embrace them. When you embrace who you are, you can walk so freely with your never-changing creator beside you.

 

PRAYER

Jesus, it’s the season of giving, and in this time, we can get so caught up in the materialistic gifts that we forget the actual gifts you’ve given us. Beyond the gift of life, you’ve created us all with unique intentions, unique callings, unique personalities, and unique gifts. Thank you for creating us just the way we find ourselves. Please give us all the strength we need when we feel that we are not enough. Remind us that you are never changing; there is no variation in your ways. Remind us that you and you alone created our very being, our every fiber. We are enough because you made us whole and complete. We honor you today and every day, AMEN!
