Episode 124

TODAY’S READING:

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

Jeremiah 29:12

Are you the kind of person that takes control in group settings? Or do you just allow someone else to rise to the task? I personally am the one who likes to take control in group settings; I don’t like trusting others with my grades or whatever outcome we are hoping for in those types of situations.

That kind of behavior transferred into my adult life & sadly, it transferred into my spiritual life.

I would treat life’s problems and seasons as a project, and I would immediately assume the role of HBIC. Head baby in charge. Yeah, baby. Think about my expertise level compared to my number one team player, Jesus.

We all tend to do this. We like to control everything, every situation, every choice, every season, and we don’t. God has control, and it’s up to us to just give it to Him.

The creator of the universe, the man who has seen the start and the end, the one who knows the number of hairs on my head. The light of the world. The prince of peace. He deserves to be the leader of your little life project.

Our walks in our faith are all so different. But I know that we all have moments where we think we can handle whatever life throws our way. We can feel like a burden to Jesus. We don’t ask for help. This verse stands as a reminder that he is waiting on us to call on His name. Pray to him. He will listen.

It’s a promise from above. “I will listen to you” is what He says. So talk to him. Give him the permission to take over. Tell him your struggles; tell him your joys. Pray, today and every day. Start talking to Jesus as if he was your best friend. The next time something cool happens, or something painful, right before you pick up the phone to tell your mom or friends, tell your side of the story to Jesus.

We know he was there to witness it, but give him your side of the story and look to see how everything in your life will start to change.

PRAYER

Jesus, thank you for a beautiful Thursday morning. Thank you for blessing us, for fighting for us, for loving on us. We release our need for control. Jesus, take the wheel. Literally and figuratively. We don’t want to be the team leaders anymore; we want you to be the one in charge of our lives. Walk us through seasons, talk with us when we are frustrated, sad, and even happy. May you bless this day, and may we be open and ready for the blessings you have for us. It is in your Holy name that we pray, AMEN!
