Episode 130

TODAY’S READING:

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Colossians 3:17

Good morning everyone! Happy Friday!

I pray you’ve all had a beautiful and safe Thanksgiving. I love this verse; it’s a beautiful reminder. It says whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of Jesus. So the actions you take and the words you say, the promises you give. Everything you do, you should be doing it all in the name of Jesus.

That gets you thinking right.

In this selfie generation, most of the deeds we do land on IG for the world to see. I caught myself this week wanting the approval of man, and I stopped myself to remind myself that my actions have nothing to do with the approval of man and everything to do with Jesus.

Your volunteer work, your giving statements, the people you serve, you don’t do that for the glory of Instagram; you do that for the Glory of God. I pray we check our actions before we post and before we gloat to others. Are we after likes or awareness for the organization?

The same action can be weighed differently in the eyes of God. It depends on where your heart was when you performed the action.

Today is historically the day when everyone gets their Christmas shopping done, all of the leftover foods get donated to homeless shelters, some people even go to work today. So I pray you have an amazing day and an even better weekend. I just wanted to leave you all with this little reminder as we get ready to welcome December. Always check your heart as you are about to perform a deed or give your word. Try to seek the heart of God, don’t look for the approval of man. You’ll be much happier in the long run.

PRAYER

Father God, thank you for the most incredible week. Thank you for bringing families together safely. Thank you for the food at our tables and the laughs we shared. As we prepare for today and this weekend, I pray you to check our hearts and our actions. May everything we do, be done for your glory. We love and honor you; it is in your Holy Name that we pray, AMEN!

Hi, I'm Ali.
I want to encourage you on your faith journey!

I'm the coffee obsessed baker from Miami, FL who got too busy to find time to read scripture everyday. I knew my life was better with Jesus and I knew I wasn't the only one struggling with finding alone time with God every morning, so I put my dreams of opening a bakery aside and set out to produce a five minute daily devotional. What first started as an email chain, has now flourished into a beautiful community and I am so happy you are here!

MY TESTIMONY

We are a faith based community in pursuit of daily prayer. All it takes is five minutes - we know you're busy but He loves you still.
