Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
Happy Friday! Wow, another week just like that. I am getting stronger every single day; thank you for the warm wishes and prayer.
Today is our 5th prayer of Advent together. We’ve been highlighting different traits of Jesus since we are preparing for his big celebration in a few weeks.
Today I wanted to highlight how Good God is.
I labeled this devotional Sweet like Candy Canes because I stumbled across this verse next to a story about the candy cane. It is said and doesn’t quote me on this that the candy cane got its shape because it is representing a Shepherd staff. And Jesus is our Shepherd. It also is said that the red stripe represented Jesus’ sacrifice, where the white stripe represented Jesus’ pure self. And after reading that, honestly, it made me want to purchase a pack of candy canes. I will appreciate them on a different level.
Taste and see that the Lord is good. We are blessed friends. We are blessed because every day, we find time to get alone with Him. Through prayer on our own time, worshiping in the car, or turning into this podcast. There are a million ways you can get the word of God into your spirit. When we do so, we can bask in his goodness. We remind ourselves who is in charge. We remember that we don’t have to go at this life alone.
John 10:11 says, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.”
God is good. He is a good good father, and we can live confident in that truth today, tomorrow, and Sunday. No matter how far you run from Him, he is always there, ready to work on your relationship. He is a father that will protect you and a friend you can confide in. He laid down His life for you.
Father God, you are a good good father. We thank you for loving us and molding us. We love you for guiding us, teaching us, and sacrificing your life for us. You constantly amaze us. We take refuge in you, Father. We are blessed because of it. We live good lives. Sometimes seasons get tough, but we love you for being there with us through it all. We are excited about all this month will bring. It is in your Holy name that we pray, AMEN!
