Episode 136
TODAY’S READING:
When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.
Matthew 2:10
Hey Everyone! Happy Monday welcome back to a new week of devotionals. Another 5 days of Advent. Today is prayer number 6 for us as we prepare for Christmas.
We’ve been studying Jesus and His character. I wanted to give us some hope to start our week with.
When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. I love this picture this little verse paints. On the night of Jesus’ birth, there was a star in the sky that shined so bright. Everyone who saw it knew something amazing had just happened. The Messiah was born.
We know that there was a long history of the world waiting for a king to arrive. In Psalm 25:4-5, we read:
Make me know Your ways, O LORD;
Teach me Your paths.
Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
For You, I wait all day.
That last line gets me; for you, I will wait all day.
Imagine hundreds of years. Generation after generation. Living by the law. Waiting for God to come, and then one night, a star appears. When the people saw the star, they were overjoyed. They knew their king had come. He was a baby. He was 33 years away from sacrificing His life, but they were still overjoyed.
I am here to remind you. You may have dreams, God’s dreams, and maybe they haven’t come to fruition, but God sends us a star so that we may have hope. So look for the stars in your life; they are all around. It might take 33 years for you to see the full picture of this God-dream, but your hope should be in Jesus the whole way through.
Be overjoyed. Put your hope in Him!
PRAYER
Jesus, we put our hope in you, Lord. We know that the best is yet to come. We know that you are watching over us, protecting us, and pushing us to see our dreams come to life. Give us guidance and strength this Monday morning as we embark on another week of making our dreams come true. May they serve your Kingdom. It is in your Holy Name that we pray, AMEN!
