Episode 153

TODAY’S READING:

9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.

John 10:9-10

Good morning everyone! Happy Wednesday. I hope you’ve all had a beautiful week. Today’s devotional title has been inspired by not only this verse but the fact that I have been in Disney since Sunday. Have I expressed to you all how much I love this place?

It’s really been an amazing time surrounded by people I love, so it was a much-needed vacation to bid this year a farewell!

This verse reminds me that we get to live Happily Ever After in Him. Through him, we get to have life and have it to the full. Meaning we get to have it all. Not all that we want, but we get to have everything he wants for us, and what he wants for us surpasses anything we could ever dream or imagine.

He wants to give us life, love, joy. He extends grace and mercy. He calls us by name. He knows what we need, and he knows where we’ve been, and yet still, we get to live a life of happily ever after.

There is an enemy, and he will try his very best to kill and destroy your joy. It happens when we are driving, and someone cuts us off or drives too slow. It happens when we allow our flesh and emotions to dictate our situations. It happens when we allow negative thoughts to consume us. It happens when we have lack communication with our loved ones.

He is sneaky, and his promises sound like ever after, but he can only give short-term pleasure. We are in it for the long hall. We pray, and we lean on Jesus to remember that only He can give us pasture. He is the only one who can give us the happily ever after we truly deserve. One with Him.

PRAYER

Father God, we want to live a life with you. Remind us to find time alone with you. Help us journal more, become more present, and ultimately live a life that makes you proud. We love that we get to have a happily ever after with you but don’t let us slip away from your promises for the promise of this world. Give us the strength when we need it; give us the power that only you can give. We are excited to live our life to the fullest of all that you have prepared for us. We love you so much. It’s in your Holy name that we pray, Amen!

Hi, I'm Ali.
I want to encourage you on your faith journey!

I'm the coffee obsessed baker from Miami, FL who got too busy to find time to read scripture everyday. I knew my life was better with Jesus and I knew I wasn't the only one struggling with finding alone time with God every morning, so I put my dreams of opening a bakery aside and set out to produce a five minute daily devotional. What first started as an email chain, has now flourished into a beautiful community and I am so happy you are here!

MY TESTIMONY

We are a faith based community in pursuit of daily prayer. All it takes is five minutes - we know you're busy but He loves you still.
