172. Power From Above, Power Within

TODAY’S READING:

16 I pray that out of his glorious riches, he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

Ephesians 3:16

 

Our power from within is given to us by the power from above. I sometimes read a verse in a few different translations to help me really understand what is being said. In a few translations, it says, “That he will grant you, according to his riches, strength for your inner man,” which really breaks that down nicely, in my opinion.

 

We all have an inner man, the spirit that lives within our hearts. And Just as we eat in the physical world to give us strength for the day ahead, our spirit does also needs to be fed. This is saying our power and our strength come from above.

 

If you’re ever at a place of exhaustion and not knowing what to do or where to go, maybe you need to be refilled with the power of the Holy Spirit.

 

That means, like I said last week, finding time to get alone with God. This weekend my Pastor preached a sermon all about finding and retreating to your secret place. We need to talk to God in our secret place. Where is yours? This is a question you should ask yourself. I know mine is in my room, I have a desk, and that’s where I do all of my readings and replenishing. God is asking you to find a place and find Him there. He will replenish your spirit with the power you need for this day. Do this over and over again and watch your days transforms.

 

The secret to losing weight isn’t to starve yourself, which just leaves you malnutrition; the secret is eating plenty of foods that are rich in nutrition. The same can be said about the spirit. Don’t starve yourself by looking for the approval of others; seek the power of God himself through His scriptures and His stories.

 

PRAYER

Father God, we thank you for this beautiful Tuesday; we give you all the thanks and all the glory. Jesus, we ask you to refill our spirits with your power. We need that constant refill every day. Remind us, just as our physical bodies need food several times a day, so do our spirits need a connection from the power from above. We ask that you bless this day ahead of us… We ask that you open doors and opportunities for us. It is in your Holy name that we pray today and every day, Amen!
