Episode 175

TODAY’S READING:

Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

Mark 6:31

Have you ever felt truly exhausted? Just plain old drained. The kind of feeling that leaves you defeated at the end of a week? I know I do. It happens when I feel overworked or as if I am scrambling to get things done.

The best part of having a relationship with Jesus is that there is scripture to back up any emotion, fear, or celebration that you may be going through. He covers it all.

As we prepare for the weekend ahead of us, we must carve time out to unplug and find rest in Him. Find a quiet place and play some soft music. Instrumental music if you can, and talk to him. Paint, or mold clay, read a book do something that will take minimal effort, but it will allow you to remove yourself from the noise of this world.

I love that Jesus instructed those who did not have a chance to eat to go with him by themselves to a quiet place to get rest. It’s no coincidence that they couldn’t eat. I said this the other day, in our physical world, we need food to survive. But in the spirit, we need to find quiet alone time with Jesus to thrive.

I hope we all get some much-needed rest this weekend.

PRAYER

Jesus, thank you for making any time alone with you a safe place for us to unload our troubles. We thank you for being so ever-present in our lives. We ask that you help us unplug and get some much-needed rest with you today and this weekend. We ask that you bless the day ahead of us. It is in your Holy name that we pray, AMEN!
