Episode 179
TODAY’S READING:
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7
The GOAT. My boyfriend loves that acronym, Greatest of All Time. So many people are “the GOAT,” Michael Jordan or Lebron James… we all have different definitions of people who fit into the category, but truly there is only one GOAT in our life, and that is God himself.
So as we dive deeper into Love and what it means and how we can choose to do so, we have to think. How do we LOVE God?
If we fall short, and we know we are not perfect, how can we show such a perfect creator the love He deserves?
I know the scriptures are clear. We are to live a life modeled after Jesus’ example. We should study His way. Study how He would enter rooms, read on when He spoke, and understand the words He used. Why did He carry so much authority? Why did He ask some to follow and others to stay behind Etc. There is so much to learn.
So that brings us back to the original question, how can we love God? I think that is where today’s verse comes to play. We need to understand that God has patience, He extends us Grace, so in return, we should work on our hearts. Following His word. Really living life as Jesus did. Serving his children, extending kindness. Becoming the very thing that is missing in the world.
Our hearts say much more about our motives than any other words or even actions that we may produce. He knows when we do things out of vanity. The best way we can love Him is to humble ourselves and truly serve Him.
Don’t serve money, don’t serve social media, don’t serve the world, serve Him.
PRAYER
Father God, help us, give us the conviction when we begin to work from a place of vanity rather than from a place of humility. We want to love you, Father; we want to be our very best. You gave us your best, and in return, we want to give you ours. We ask that you make way for us to extend your kindness and your grace to those around us. Help us out on the posture of servant leadership. We want to help heal this world. We try our best to love you every day. It is in your Holy name that we pray, AMEN!
