Episode 185

TODAY’S READING:

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us.

1 John 4:18-19

Happy final prayer in this what is love series. I had a really nice time discovering love, really leaning into this beautiful power we all have access to. I wanted us to hold onto a beautiful verse and a reminder as we prepared for this weekend. I don’t care if you have plans on valentines day or not; this month serves as the perfect excuse to extend LOVE to all of those around us.

I am hoping through the series we got a better understanding of why God loves us so much. Today we get to remember that we get to love others because of the love he shows us.

The best part of this verse is that it is clearly addressed that there is no fear in love. Perfect love drives out fear. You may be thinking about your loved ones, and you can say yeah, but it scares me to love that person. What if I get hurt.

We aren’t talking about that kind of love. We are talking about the perfect love from God. There is no fear there. He has you covered. He has you protected. Nothing can harm you. Nothing can separate you from His love. Because of that, we can love others. Because we know there is no fear in the love that he has for us, we can boldly walk into our world and extend love to the people closest to us.

You are scared you might get hurt. You are scared it’s going to be hard? We talked about it, love is hard, and it can all be a little scary, but we can rest knowing that His love is enough.

PRAYER

Father God, you love us so much; your love is so perfect; we don’t have to fear rejection. Even if the world rejects us, even if it’s hard work with our loved ones, even if things are far from perfect, even when it’s hard to love, it’s easy because no matter the outcome, your love is perfect, and we can rest knowing that you have us protected. We thank you for your warm embrace; we thank you for your grace. Because of that, we can boldly step in faith and pour love into those around us. It is in your Holy name that we pray, AMEN!
