Episode 227

TODAY’S READING:

When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

John 5:6

 

This story can easily be overlooked. If you are not sick in your body, you might read this, and it might go right over your head. But if you peel back the layers a little, you’ll see that He is talking to us all.

 

Many of us have been lying around in the same condition for years: same desire to change, no proof of growth. Same desire to get healthy, to get financially secure, to leap of faith, to start that business, to join that community, and yes, here we are lying here for a long time.

 

I love that Jesus asked the man, Do you want to get well?

 

It’s a reminder that God will do it. He will give you the strength to start the business, he will give you the strength to get in a new routine, he will give you the way when you see no way, but he is going to ask you first.

 

Do you want to get well?

 

Do you want it?

 

Remind yourself today that He is asking you if you want to change if you want to grow. He will give you the way, but he is asking you to take the first step.

 

PRAYER

Father God, thank you for pushing us to grow; thank you for pushing us to be better. We want to get better, Lord. We have all been lying here for a long time. We’ve all been waiting for the day things would change. Waiting for the day to exercise, waiting for the day to save enough money, waiting for the day we would build enough courage to start the business, but today we realize it’s not about waiting, but about declaring in your Holy name that we want to get well. We declare healing in our bodies; we declare a miracle where we may not see one. We know that you will provide the way. We thank you for asking us, and we thank you in advance for all that you do for us. It is in your Holy Name that we pray, AMEN!
