Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him, God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
Just your friendly reminder as we continue to flourish and grow each and every day. It’s okay to work hard for the things you have. It’s okay to buy nice things for your home. It’s okay if you like to buy nice clothes. It’s okay to do what it is that you love to do with your time and treasure.
But on that same token, assess your motive behind your work.
Don’t work as if you’re only working to afford these nice things. Do not spend every waking hour working to then spend your money on the IG aesthetic home. Don’t work so hard on posting the perfect picture looking for the algorithm to applaud you. This verse is talking about food that spoils, but that doesn’t mean all things that spoil are tangible. It could be the vanity we seek, the attention we need.
Instead, let’s focus on food that endures eternal life. Jesus has given us the spirit. The fruit of the spirit is simple, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Let’s focus on that today. Let’s focus on the joy of the Lord. Let’s focus on peace. Let’s work towards kindness. Let’s be good to one another.
Let’s fix our eyes on the eternal.
Jesus, thank you for the gift of the spirit. We pray today to focus our eyes on the eternal. We want to stop giving into working so hard for materialistic things. Working hard for attention or vanity. We ask to put that away. We pray to focus on the goodness, the joy, the kindness. We want to be exactly that. We thank you for watching over us. It is with everything in us that we pray, AMEN!
