Episode 235

TODAY’S READING:

8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Psalm 4:8

You can rest knowing that you are safe. You can look at this week and be thankful for all that you’ve accomplished, and you can rest knowing that you won’t skip a beat.

I am guilty of overworking. I am guilty of the “don’t stop until it’s accomplished” mindset. I fear that if I stop, I will lose traction in all I have accomplished, but that is the furthest from the truth.

You see, we get to be in peace. We can lie down and sleep knowing that the only things that keep us safe, “for you alone, Lord,” make me dwell in safety.

So that job you’re working so hard for? That business, those courses. All these things we give our attention to? None of them will bring us the safety and the security that God will.

Let us rest in that this weekend.

PRAYER

Father, we want to rest in you. We want to feel safe in you. We seek security in worldly things like a job, a business, or even fame, but we know that the safety comes from you and you alone. We thank you for protecting us. We thank you for giving us rest. It is with everything in us that we pray, AMEN!
