Episode 241

TODAY’S READING:

17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.

Daniel 3:17-18

 

Happy Monday!! I pray we walk into this week with the courage these boys had. If you don’t know this story, take some time to open your bibles to Daniel 3:1 and start there. It’s titled The Image of Gold and the Blazing Furnace. It’s a beautiful story of how God will be there to deliver us.

 

In the verses from today’s devotional, we witness a bold claim. If we are thrown into a furnace, our God will deliver us, and even if he doesn’t, we want you to know that we will not serve your gods.

 

I don’t know who needs to hear these words this morning, but God will deliver you from the false gods you serve. We all have them. Some of us serve money, some of us serve social media, others serve our addictions, some serve fame, some serve vanity.

 

I pray we have the courage to declare God will deliver us, and even if He doesn’t, I pray we vow to remove the false gods in our lives. Let’s put the phone down. When you are at dinner with your friends and family, put the phone down.

 

Spoiler alert for the end of this story, God delivers them. He will deliver you, but you have to surrender it to Him. 

 

PRAYER

Father God, we all struggle with something. God, we come together in prayer today, asking for the strength to remove the false idols we’ve set up. We vow to stop scrolling aimlessly; we vow to tear down the grip money has on our hearts. We vow to surrender our vanity and jealously. We vow to give up the need to be right. We ask that you keep us pure. We ask that you help us in the journey of walking deeper in our faith. We thank you for everything in us; we know the week ahead of us is going to be a blessing because we surrender it to you. It is in your son’s Holy name that we pray, AMEN!
