21 The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of humans, even though every inclination of the human heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. 22 “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”
I read the full story of Noah this weekend as I was prepping for our devotional today. I know we are studying different people in the Bible, and Noah is definitely an interesting story to study.
The truth is I am not a scholar; I did not go to school to study theology. I am just a girl who set out to pray every day. To read scripture every day.
I don’t have all the answers as to why God did what he did. I don’t have the answers as to why Noah was 600 years old, and now we only live to 100 max. Maybe it’s the foods we are eating – just kidding.
But I do know one thing. My heart can be evil; even a Child’s heart can also be. I know kids who push their friends and children who don’t share their toys. We are selfish to our core. I also know that God has blessed me a lifetime and time again.
God is a promise keeper.
I know that there are times to sow seeds and times to reap the harvest. There are summers and winters, falls and springs. The sun rises every morning, and the stars dance every night.
It’s been thousands and thousands of years, and God has kept His promise. He has made other promises to me and promises to you. Even if we don’t understand the full story, we can go on today holding to the truth that what He has promised you will come to fruition. He is a giving, fair, and just father. He never takes back His word.
Father God, thank you for being the kind of father that holds his promise. Thank you for blessing our lives and giving us hope for the future. We may not always understand, but we can always have the faith that you will see it through. We ask that you bless this beautiful Monday. We ask that you hold us extra tightly today. Prepare us for all that you have for us; we love you with everything in us, AMEN!
