Episode 257
TODAY’S READING:
2 “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
Genesis 12:2
We just finished studying the life of Noah, and now we are entering the life of Abraham.
If you want to read the full chapter, start at Genesis chapter 12 and read through the next few chapters.
We will read through some verses together over the next few days to know his character a little better.
Similar to Noah, God spoke kind words over Abraham. I will make you into a great nation. We will learn more about Abraham, but God did not hold back on his promise; Abraham did become a blessing to families everywhere.
Reading this verse and reading through his story really inspires me to be the best person I could be. When I really looked into it caught me by surprise that the two sentences feed off of another.
I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you. The second sentence says I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. It is the classic; we bless others because he blessed us first. The same can be swapped for the first hall. He made his name great because he became a great nation. Meaning we can be great after we do greatness for others.
Being a blessing in another person’s life should be our ultimate goal, so as we go about our day today, let’s take a moment to pray over those we love the most. Those that we see often. Those that need love in their life.
PRAYER
Father God, I ask that you make us all great. Let us be great in the home, in the office, at work, and school. Bless us, father, so that we can be a blessing. We thank you in advance for all that we have and all that you will give us. Thank you for allowing us to be your hands and feet. It is with everything in us that we pray, AMEN!
