16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.
1 John 3:16
It’s my birthday! 28 years old.
I have always admired this number. I have been working really hard over the last two years, hoping to feel something special about my 28th birthday. I love the number 8, and I have always wanted to be wildly successful before 30.
As more and the more days pass, the more I realize what an empty goal I had been working towards.
I am 28, I have a top 50 charted podcast, I am a self-published author, and I have a business, yet I don’t feel any special.
I know that’s because my worth doesn’t come from the things I do; it comes from the actions He did 2000 years ago.
The thing that makes us significant is that Christ laid down his life for us, and we get to do the same for others.
Nothing else in this life really matters. So I pray this next year of my life, I continue to work hard because I know that will never change, but I pray I lean even closer to God and his people. I pray every day I lay my life down for the sake of another. It is the greatest gift that we have been given.
Father God, thank you for another year of life. Thank you for your actions on the cross. It is because you laid your life for us, Jesus, that we can lay our life down for others. Remind us this life is about serving one another, nothing more. Thank you for the blessing of a new day. It is with everything that we pray, AMEN!
