Episode 272
TODAY’S READING:
31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:31-33
I was recording an episode yesterday as a guest on my friend Michael Martinez’s podcast. He was a guest on this show back in July of last year. If you were here at that time, you would remember he prayed with us and encouraged us to pick up our mat and start walking.
Yesterday as I was recording the episode, he asked me why I had the drive to do all of the things I was doing. How was I doing the podcast while working at the bakery full time and still managing to work part-time to help with the bills?
I addressed that at first, my drive came from the fear of instability. I wanted a successful business because I needed to make sure I knew I had money to eat, I had clothes to wear. But as I drowned in my long to-do list, I launched this podcast.
This podcast helped me first seek His kingdom. Connecting with you all on a daily basis. Seeking His kingdom first has been what has allowed me to walk into my business with the confidence and strength that only he provides.
All of this to say, I hope you first seek His kingdom. I hope you look for heavenly things in the day today. I hope you look for His grace and mercy. I hope you reach out for his light and love. When we do this, when we live in the promise, then all of the other things, like food, shelter, clothing, all of that will be given to us.
PRAYER
Father God, thank you for giving us a new day. Lord, today, we are praying for our community. We are praying for the health of those and their loved ones. I ask that you clear the worry. If anyone under the sound of my voice is plagued with worry, I ask that you comfort them. Let us not ask what, why, and how, but let us lean on your love, light, and trust. We know that you will take care of us, so we ask that we seek your kingdom first. It is with everything in us that we pray, Amen!
