Episode 273

For in this hope, we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

Romans 8:24-25

Hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees?

Let’s break that down.

You can’t hope for what you already see. You can’t hope to have Cuban food for dinner when you are in the car driving to a Cuban restaurant.

Hoping for what we do not see is faith. Faith that you are in the car driving to a restaurant, but you don’t know for certain what cuisine awaits you. You know you are going to get fed, but you’re hoping for Arroz y frijoles.

Hope is our faith that what’s to come is going to bless you. I hope that no matter how lows the lows may get, our Father is a protector, a redeemer, the king above all kings.

Hope is one of our greatest joys. Knowing that even in the tough days. Even in the valley’s, there is something to hope for—a better day in the distance.

A greater tomorrow.

Jesus, thank you for the gift of hope. Thank you for the faith that in every season, we know you are our shield, our protector, our guide. Thank you for giving us this day; we love you with absolutely everything. AMEN!

Hi, I'm Ali.
I want to encourage you on your faith journey!

I'm the coffee obsessed baker from Miami, FL who got too busy to find time to read scripture everyday. I knew my life was better with Jesus and I knew I wasn't the only one struggling with finding alone time with God every morning, so I put my dreams of opening a bakery aside and set out to produce a five minute daily devotional. What first started as an email chain, has now flourished into a beautiful community and I am so happy you are here!

We are a faith based community in pursuit of daily prayer. All it takes is five minutes - we know you're busy but He loves you still.
