Episode 280

TODAY’S READING:

because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

James 1:20

Anger is an emotion I don’t feel quite too often, but when I do, it normally manifests in the form of tears.

I am the kind of person that cries when I get really overwhelmed and angry. It’s my defense mechanism. I hide behind my tears.

Although I think the feeling of anger and sadness are natural emotions and important for us to feel as it reminds us that we are human. The act of sinning in our anger is what does not produce the righteousness that God desires from us.

We have to be very careful not to let our words and actions move us from God’s desires.

So the next time you get into a tiff, or if anything at work, upsets you today, remember that the emotion is a natural human emotion, but God gave us the power of self-control, and it’s up to us to stay in a state of righteousness.

PRAYER

Father God, we thank you for the gift of self-control. We ask that you help us in challenging times. Help us in not short fusing or causing a scene. Help us from yelling or doing things out of your desires for us. We ask that when emotions of anger arise, that we surrender them to you. We ask that you remind us of this today if it comes up and in the future the next time we get angry. We ask you to bless the day ahead of us. It is in your Holy Name that we pray, AMEN!
