Episode 289

TODAY’S READING:

19 But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or him? You be the judges!

Acts 4:19

Listening to our emotions is a sure way to get us into some trouble. We must always remember that our emotions are fleeting. God doesn’t want us to follow our emotions; he wants us to lean on our faith. He wants us to lean on his word.

Think about all the trouble your emotions can get you into. When angry, you can overreact and say something you can’t take back. When you are sad, you can become stuck and unable to see the bigger picture. Our emotions often cloud our judgment.

This verse is saying, “you be the judge,” meaning you decide what is right, to listen to ourselves or to listen to Him.

My prayer today is that we listen to him. We lean on his word. We take time to read his promises printed on that bible. Listen for when he speaks. Look for his peace and his love.

May we always remember…

Emotions are fleeting; faith is constant.

PRAYER

Father God, thank you for another beautiful day ahead of us. Today Lord, we pray that we do not give in to our emotions, but rather we lean onto you and your word. We ask that you protect us as we go about our day and that you would bless our home. It is with absolutely everything that we pray, AMEN!
