Episode 294

TODAY’S READING:

11 Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.

3 John 1:11

Do not imitate what is evil. Those are the words that stood out to me today. It’s almost like easy instructions, almost as if we are all wired to imitate behaviors. Which I can agree is true.

I studied psychology in college, and I earned my degree in Psychology. One of the things I will never forget learning is how absolutely everything we do is a learned behavior.

We walk, talk, and behave in the ways we have been taught or learned from watching others.

This verse is saying do not imitate what is evil but what is good.

Meaning, we have the opportunity to learn from others and behave like others, and we should be looking for what is good.

We can change our communities, which can change our world. One at a time, by imitating what is good. It starts with one good action today.

Goodness comes from God. There is no going around it. True goodness is His gift, and we should strive to imitate that kind of behavior in our daily life, starting with today.

PRAYER

Father God, thank you for yet another beautiful day ahead of us. Lord, today we focus on the good. We focus on imitating the goodness we see around us. We want to spread your love and your light. We thank you for all the wonderful opportunities we have to be your hands and feet today. Let us remember that as the day progresses. Let’s take this into our homes, into our offices, into our businesses. We love you, and thank you! AMEN!
