Episode 305

TODAY’S READING:

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John 14:27

Winner: Gina Allen

What a beautiful verse and reminder to hold onto. A lot of the time, we ask and pray for things to happen, and we have a visual expectation or a story that we have played in our heads.

This is how God is going to bless me.

This is where I am going to meet the one.

This is the timeline for my life.

We write the ends of our stories over and over again. Every day is a new outcome because every day, things change, and so we think our ends need to change too.

When will we re-realize that God has given us the gift of peace? A kind of peace that doesn’t make us feel the need to write the end of our stories. When will we realize the true definition of “not as the world gives.”

The world doesn’t give; it takes. So why would we ever think He would give as the world gives? He isn’t a father that takes. He is a father that provides.

PRAYER

Father, today, we work on reminding ourselves that you have given us the ultimate gift. You gave us your peace. The kind of peace that rules over doctor reports and bank accounts. Your peace rules over blood pressure and academic grades. Your peace rules over all, and we pray that we hold onto that peace. Let us use it, lean on it, and hold onto it. Jesus, we love you with everything in us, AMEN!
