Episode 313

TODAY’S READING:

LORD, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress.

Isaiah 33:2

What happens when we crave His presence? We crave other things. Our cravings take form in many different ways. Lisa Turkst wrote a powerful book on the craving for food and how we were designed to crave Him instead. But I think our craving manifests in different forms.

When we crave His presence, we instead become co-dependent on others. When we crave His love, we look for it in multiple partners. When we crave his acceptance, we look for it on our likes and comments on social media. When we crave his embrace, we find it in a warm cookie or your favorite snack.

There are many ways we look for Him but fall short. I hope today we remember this verse, and we repeat it often. Lord, we long for you, not for IG. Lord, we long for you, not something sweet. Lord, we long for you. Be our strength today. Be our salvation in times of distress. Let us find our identity in you and not the things we turn to.

PRAYER

Jesus, we long for you. We long for days in which we can fully surrender our worries to you. We know it is well; we know you are there to embrace us; we know that you have surrounded us with good and faithful people. So lord, today, our prayer is simple. Be gracious to us. Be our strength every morning, but especially this morning. You are our salvation, our one true friend. Thank you for the wisdom, the love, and the grace you pour into us every day. It is with everything in us that we pray, AMEN!
