Episode 322

TODAY’S READING:

When you ask, you do not receive because you ask with wrong motives that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

James 4:3

Yesterday we went to the magic kingdom after we were done working. We wanted to take the bus. It was easier than driving. So my friends and I headed to the bus stop, and we watched several buses pass us at different destinations. Our bus never came. It wasn’t until I saw the third bus for Animal Kingdom pass by that I knew something was wrong.

So when that third animal kingdom bus passed, I got into the bus, and I asked the driver to help me track down the magic kingdom bus.

When he heard we’d been waiting for 30 minutes, he said, come on board, I’ll drive you.

Ask, and you shall receive.

Now, what about when you ask, and you don’t receive it? What would have happened if I had asked the bus driver for help and he said, I am sorry I am not your bus, but you can wait back at the stop it should be there soon.

The reality is, you don’t always get what you want. You don’t always get what you ask for.

Maybe the things you are praying for, God won’t give them to you. And maybe it upsets you. Maybe it frustrates you, but have you ever thought of the ways it blesses you? Maybe he needs you to wait for the right bus to come and pick you up. Perhaps he wants you to learn patience, or maybe he is purposely withholding events from you for your good.

We all face different mountains, and some of us needed to hear this bus story and remember to ask for help on our journey. Other’s of us need to wait for the right bus to come into our lives and take us to our destination. Wherever you are, remember there is only one person calling the shots here, and it wasn’t me; it was the bus driver.

Life is no different, the bus driver is Jesus, and he is calling the shots.

PRAYER

Father God, thank you for a beautiful Tuesday. Thank you for this day, and thank you for the opportunity you have ahead of us. We thank you for where we are today. No matter if we are nervous for this season or not, we know that you are the one who calls the shot. You are the one driving the bus. We give our life to you. It is with everything in our life that we pray, AMEN!

Hi, I'm Ali.
I want to encourage you on your faith journey!

I'm the coffee obsessed baker from Miami, FL who got too busy to find time to read scripture everyday. I knew my life was better with Jesus and I knew I wasn't the only one struggling with finding alone time with God every morning, so I put my dreams of opening a bakery aside and set out to produce a five minute daily devotional. What first started as an email chain, has now flourished into a beautiful community and I am so happy you are here!

MY TESTIMONY

We are a faith based community in pursuit of daily prayer. All it takes is five minutes - we know you're busy but He loves you still.
