Episode 365

TODAY’S READING:

I said, “If only I had wings like a dove– I would fly away and find rest.

Psalm 55:6

If only I had more… If only I had less .. so many times we tell ourselves “if only” to cope with what we do not currently have.

In this case, if only I had wings, I would fly away and find rest.

The truth is, we can find rest in the here and now. We have to. When we don’t find rest, our bodies will make sure that we do.

A lot of the things we want in life, we might not have. Sometimes it’s health, or money, or a job. We tell ourselves we don’t have them because there is an if only hovering over our thoughts. If only I had more time to commit to the gym. If only I had more money to buy that ticket. If only I had more confidence. If only I had less on my plate.

My prayer today is simple. Let’s stop blaming “if only,” and let’s start doing what we can with what we have.

If you need rest, find rest; you don’t need wings.

PRAYER

Father God, today we look to you for strength. Every day we cast our worries onto you, but today especially, we look at the words we choose. If we keep saying the words, if only – I pray we take a hard deep look at them and give it to you. Let us surrender what we think we don’t have, and let us use everything you’ve given us today. It is in your holy name that we pray, AMEN!
