Episode 368

TODAY’S READING:

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7

Still in the spooky series and eyeballs always stand out during this time of year. But of course, I wanted to go a little deeper.

One of the most beautiful attributes of our God is that He doesn’t see us with the same eyes we have. It’s hard for us to comprehend that because what we see is what we see. We need machinery to see our insides, like CAT Scans and X-Ray machines.

But God sees that with his naked eye.

Now deeper than the substance that forms our flesh, we have our soul, thoughts, and personalities. All things we can’t see with our naked eyes, but God can. He can see us; he knows us, our very essence. Beyond solid flesh, He can see the light inside of us.

The world has us fixed on what we look like. The world has us focused on our color, hair, and the clothes we wear; it reminds us of our size, and our style, and our choices. It reminds us of all the things our human eyes can see. But what a pity to waste our full potential in only the exterior when there is so much more we can also work on. Notice how I said also. Our bodies were given to us by our creator, and I know there is the importance behind caring for it and feeling good and looking presentable. But I hope we don’t miss the bigger picture, because, on the days that I don’t feel good and I can’t muster the strength to do my hair or put on lipstick, God sees my soul, and He says, Daughter, you are worthy, Daughter, you are doing the best that you can.

God looks at us right where we are, and He can see our hearts. He sees our deepest thoughts; He understands where we come from. He knows why we are glad or even why we are sad.

If you think you need refining to ask Him for help. It starts on the inside of us, and then it moves outward. Give God your best before you give the world your second best.

PRAYER

Father God, you see us where we are. You see our hearts, you know our stance, and we challenge ourselves to look deep within when making decisions. We ask if this is what you would want us to do. We challenge our actions to ensure they are good and pure of heart. Lord, we devote ourselves to working on ourselves every day. We know the importance of caring for our bodies, but we know that it is a combination of things that make us beautiful, and it starts with the light we carry inside. We pray this all in your Holy Name, AMEN!
