Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Ending our Spooky Devos today, talking all about the skeletons we keep in our closets.
We all have a past; it’s how we got to this moment of our life.
Not all of our pasts are fun; actually, a lot of us have dark valleys we’ve had to cross to get us to this point.
We meet new people, and we hide certain things about ourselves. There are details that we keep hidden. There are secrets we all have.
Now there are two things about our faith that I wanted us to understand. You don’t truly have any secrets. God knows all. You don’t truly need to hold onto your past. Jesus took care of your shame.
I know our past haunts us; it’s how we started this devotional series, but I wanted to remind us all before we head into this weekend that we are all new creations in Christ; we are not bound to the skeletons in our closets. In fact, we can clean it out because we have nothing to hide.
Our past is our testimony in the gracious father we love and serve.
Our skeletons are our testimonies, and we don’t need to hide them from anyone because Jesus took care of them long ago, and like this verse says, the old has passed away, behold the new has come.
Jesus, we love you. Thank you for taking it all on the cross. Thank you for taking our pasts, our shame, the things we hide from the world. Lord, help us in using our stories to share your wonder. To share your love. To share your light. We love you; we thank you, we honor you, we cherish you. It is in your holy name that we pray, AMEN & AMEN!
