Episode 392

TODAY’S READING:

22 Then came the Festival of Dedication at Jerusalem. It was winter, 23, and Jesus was in. Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.”

Hosea 6:3

Have you ever gotten so excited for something and kept it to yourself for the fear that it doesn’t come true. Like you want to buy a house, and you don’t tell anyone until after you close on the sale so that you don’t jinx it.

We do it all of the time with promotions at work or new side projects we want to devote our time and resources to.

We hold our breath so that we don’t have to face disappointment or shame if something were to fail.

I have noticed that many things in life make me hold my breath. The unsureness of it all is what keeps me hesitant to share the good news. But what I have noticed is that there are consistent things we can look to.

And that is God and His creation. The sun comes up every day. We don’t have to hold our breath. The waves crash on the sand; we don’t have to hold our breath for that. The stars blanket the skies at night; we don’t have to hold our breath for that.

God appears to us every day, and I would hope we understand that we don’t have to hold our breaths for that. We don’t have to keep this hope to ourselves, no we can do the opposite. We can tell everyone we know that God will be there for us tomorrow, just as He was there for us today.

Let us press on today. Let us lean in closer, let us be thankful that our God is unlike a fluctuating market or a side venture, He is consistent, shows up, and never misses a day. He doesn’t fail. He never has, and He never will. This is the God we serve.

PRAYER

Father God, you are our rock; you are our everlasting, never failing, always a consistent father. You are a friend; you are our confidant. Lord, we love you, so much and we ask that you fill our hearts today with hope. Let us remember that you do not change; you will appear to us today as the sun appears every morning. We are so much better because of you. We love you, and we pray this all in your son’s name, AMEN!
