Episode 393

Happy Advent Season!! Today marks 24 days of Christmas! I am excited to study Jesus this month. I am eager to learn more about who he was, his names, his characteristics, the things that made him, him.

 

Advent means coming, and this is the season of the birth of Jesus, so I wanted to know more about Him as we prepared for his birth.

 

Starting, of course, with one of my favorite names that He has, “Light of The World.”

 

This verse talks about how Jesus himself said I am the light of the world; whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.

 

Light is so beautiful; it twinkles, it brings joy, it helps us navigate. I used to love the fall because I loved the time change. I loved leaving marching band practice when it was dark. It made me feel as if I had spent the entire day with my friends at school. But as I got older, spending so much time with my friends became less important, and my mental health and productiveness became more important.

 

I have found that daylight brightens my day. It makes me happy. I don’t like being out in the dark alone. I wouldn’t say I like the idea of not knowing if there is a bug right next to me that can jump out at me.

 

In the same, Jesus came to earth to give us the light so that when the enemy tries and jumps out at us, we are prepared. The light shows us the way, it helps prepare us, it gives us direction, and Jesus is no different.

 

This is a man who came down from Heaven to give us the tools to navigate the dark. He is a lamp, a light, the light of the world.

 

PRAYER

Jesus, we are excited to get to know more about you over the next 24 days. Lord, we thank you, we thank you for everything you’ve given us. We thank you for stepping out of Heaven to be our light. We love you and are prepared for what you have for us. Thank you for giving us the way. It is in your holy name that we pray, AMEN!
