Episode 395

TODAY’S READING:

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

Isaiah 7:14

I love the bible because it paints us a picture. Jesus and His life were prophesied, and when you read Isaiah, it shows us what we are looking forward to, but then when you read Matthew, it confirms what happened.

Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”

Matthew 1:22-23

Jesus is our Immanuel, He came to earth from heaven, and he was God with us.

The funny thing with this name is that my boyfriend’s full first name is Emmanuel, in Spanish, which is the same name. Immanuel. Such a beautiful name that can become so mundane. I use it every day, but I don’t truly think about its origin.

When Jesus stepped out of heaven and came to earth, He was 100% man and 100% God. He was God on earth, God in the flesh, God with us.

The greatest part of our faith is that we have a father who is with us, not just when he walked the earth so long ago, but right here and now. He walks with us; He guides us; he dreams with us. He is pushing us and nudging us. He opens doors, and He closes them. He does what is best for us.

So today, remember that God is with us; God is with you. Whatever you are facing, take a moment and repeat Immanuel, Immanuel, Immanuel God with us.

PRAYER

Lord, thank you. Thank you that you are always with us. Thank you that we can always count on you and lean on you, and love you. Thank you for guiding us; thank you for leading us in the righteous direction. Lord, today we remember you are Immanuel; you are a God with us and will never leave us. It is in your holy name that we pray, AMEN!
