Episode 403

TODAY’S READING:

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.

John 10:11

One of my favorite names. He is the good shepherd. What a beautiful life to have a God who leads us. One that laid down His life for us.

One of my favorite passages is Psalm 23:1-6, which reads:

A Psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. …

I look around at my life, and I see where my cup overflows. I see where God has blessed me. I know it’s not because of luck, and it’s sure not because of my own doing, but I like to hold onto the fact that my God is a good father, and I don’t need any father explanation other than that.

He is my shepherd. He leads me, and I follow. He calls me, and I answer. I hope that we all have that attitude with life. Where the shepherd moves us, may we go freely.

No matter if we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, let us not fear evil. Let us remember that He is with us, and our cup overflows.

PRAYER

Father God, we thank you. Lord, your son, has so many names, it’s hard to choose our favorite one. But Lord, this name means something incredibly special to us. It means that He is the leader of our life. We vow that right here right now. May he lead us, may we follow. May he call us, and may we answer. May he ask from us, and may we answer. Lord, today we give it all to you. We do not feat evil, and we are so grateful for our cup that overflows. It is in your son’s holy name that we pray, Amen!
