Episode 414
TODAY’S READING:
As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness.
Ezekiel 34:12
When I look back at my relationship with Christ, I can say every day ends up being a Rescue Mission for Jesus. He has to rescue me from the mess I am in.
Sometimes I make the mess; other times, I am lost in the mess of the world, but before I put my head on the pillow, I recognize that Jesus saved me. Over and over and over again for different reasons.
Last night I saw Encanto, and it was such a beautiful movie, in my opinion. I won’t spoil any details, but I will say that I saw myself in many of the characters. Trying to hold too much weight, or sometimes trying to be too perfect. I have learned that to more and more I try to be something I am not, the more I feel lost. But I have also learned that no matter how lost I feel, every day, Jesus sends out a rescue mission to find me.
I know He does the same for you. He doesn’t let us wander too far. He gives us a home.
So today, I honor just how great He is. I honor Him for finding me over and over and over again. I thank Him for everything He has given me. I thank Him for pulling me out of the water when I thought I was drowning. I thank Him for how far I have come this year, and I am hopeful and fixed on the future.
PRAYER
Jesus, thank you for rescuing us day in and day out. Thank you for coming to find us even when we think we are lost. Even when we think we are alone, you are there for us. We thank you for how far we’ve come in 2021, and we are hopeful for all that is to come in 2022. We pray this all in your mighty name, AMEN!
