Episode 416

TODAY’S READING:

Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.

Psalm 33:3

HAPPY NEW YEAR, FAM! I am so excited for this upcoming year. If you are new here, my name is Ali, and this is the My Morning Devotional community. In June o 2020, I launched a devotional podcast, and over the last year and a half, 21 countries have joined me in the journey of daily prayer, and I could not be more honored to do this.

Today we are celebrating 416 episodes together and, most importantly, a new year together. Most of us have been on vacation mode for the last month, and today is going to be a tough day getting back into our daily routines.

There is something so intoxicating about new beginnings, though. We are all on fire to change our situations. The only prayer in my personal life that I want to leave you with is our intentions for this year? Are we making a list of righteous resolutions?

Usually, I like to pick a theme, a word that really embodies the overall bigger picture, and then I like to break down my goals into my 3-part man—body, Soul, Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 says:

Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are a three-part man in the presence of Jesus. We are all body, all soul, and all spirit, and I am a firm believer that we operate best when all three are working in harmony.

Today is exciting because we are all on fire to change. We are all longing to sing a new song. But my biggest prayer is that we include Jesus in our plans. What has he called us to do? Is it at the top of our lists?

What word are you choosing? What are our motives? So many different questions to ask ourselves to truly align ourselves with the will of God over our lives.

May today bring us new awareness, new clarity, and a new song. May we sing His praises is everything we accomplish this year. May we share the testimony of the one that changed our life. May we not fear and walk badly in the calling this year.

PRAYER

Jesus, we know that with you, we are never alone. We know we are not going to be conquered by fear this year. You have given us dreams, and we are going to see those come to fruition this year. We only ask that you give us strength and clarity. May we assess our resolutions, may they be righteous. May they embody your will for us. Today we sing a new song, today we shout for joy, for it is a new year, a new season, and new blessings are among us. We accept all that you have in store for us in 2022. Thank you for all you do for us. It is in your Son’s Holy name we pray, AMEN!
