Episode 427
TODAY’S READING:
11 Now, what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. 12 It is not up in heaven so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 13 Nor is it beyond the sea so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 14 No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it. 15 See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. 16 For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees, and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
Deuteronomy 30:11-16
We are all about to walk into our promised lands. The blessings we’ve been praying for. It’s right ahead of us. God wants to give it to you, He wants to give us that and more. But we have to make a choice. Will we choose life or death?
Every day, we need to ask that question. Am I going to hold onto His word or put my faith up to the world?
We have clear instructions, but it’s also noted that the choice isn’t hard for us. Well, it shouldn’t be, at least. It says the word is very near, it’s in our hearts. That is the Holy Spirit. He resides inside of us, we have divine power to help us choose life.
I think the hard part comes from the IF in this verse. The blessings are there, the promised land is there, God is ready to bless us, it’s not hard to listen to Him, He resides within us, but this is all possible IF we obey the commandments. IF we love the Lord. IF we walk in His ways. IF we keep his commandments and his statues.
The hard part isn’t following Jesus. The hard part is denying our flesh and our wants. We think choosing life is choosing to partake in life our way; the world has made it very tempting to tell you that God’s way is restrictive and not fun, you get caught in the lie that life is to live on our terms, and death is to deny thy self, but man is that so wrong. Death to thy self is the only way we can live in everlasting joy.
Choosing life means making a conscious decision to put up your cross each and every day.
PRAYER
Father God, we love you, Lord. We know you reside in us, Lord we know that you have a plan for us, so give us the strength. Give us the strength to take up our cross. Let us take you on your word and choose life. We deny our flesh so that we can live in the abundance of the everlasting joy you give. We are declaring great things over our lives this year, Lord. It’s going to be a great year. We love you so much, and we ask that you bless the day ahead. It is in your son’s name that we pray, AMEN!
