Episode 432

TODAY’S READING:

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. 4 Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Proverbs 3:3-4

I love this verse—clear actions and findings when you break it down.

Love and faithfulness have to be our pillars in life. It is what builds strong foundations in our relationships. Faithfulness is the act of commitment. How many of us don’t feel like going to work, but we know there is value in showing up even when we don’t want to.

Imagine our lives if we didn’t love those around us when we didn’t feel like it. Imagine.

The follow-up to this verse is the effect. What happens after we exhibit love and faithfulness in our lives?

Well, we get favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

Another version of the Bible says you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.

Good success. Society leads us to believe good success is measured by the number in your bank account or the amount of destinations you’ve visited around the globe. It measures success in the number of children you raise and the position you land in your career.

But this isn’t the kind of success the Bible is promising us. It’s much deeper than that. It means we will have good success in the relationships that are built on love and faithfulness. It means that our businesses and employees will thrive if we build our legacy on love and faithfulness. It isn’t about the money, but the impact and they are two very different things.

My prayer today is simple. Let’s get it right. Let’s love and be faithful. Not because we want great success according to society, but we want great success in the impact, we will leave on others.

PRAYER

Father God, we thank you for another beautiful Tuesday. Lord, you know that we all want to leave an impact. We want to love on those around us. We want them to see you in us. We want others to want what we have, and we know that starts with us leading a life of love and faithfulness. It means staying committed even when we don’t want to. Lord, we ask that you give us the strength to be better today. We love you and pray this all in your holy name, AMEN!
