Episode 456

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

Ephesians 6:11

Now I know that this past week has been a heavy week for us all as we continue to read articles, watch the news and listen to honestly though just a horrible situation that’s happening on the other side of the world for some of us for others of us. It’s close to home. I know that there are people from all over the world who tune in, and we continue to pray. We continue to pray over this situation. We’re praying for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine as they fight to protect their land or praying for the people in Russia as they stand in protest against their government. We’re praying for our militaries as they are closely watching what is happening. We’re praying for world leaders as they are looking for discernment and making decisions. This is very complex, and we’re praying that God intervenes. And so, while we’re praying against that, we’re also looking at our daily life.

We all have work that we need to go back to; we have to take our kids to school; we have to go to school for a university. We all have daily routines to go back and immerse ourselves in. I was reading Amin, and it was like, are we supposed to go about our daily life when all of this is happening? And that’s just that’s the unfortunate truth. We have to go about our daily life to continue to provide for our families. And so what do we do in those situations? Well, I think that the best thing that we can do is lean on the armor of God. Because although the enemy is very much present on the other side of the world, he’s also very much present in our daily lives. And so what we can do is fight him here and now.

So in order to do so, the full armor of God is the belt of truth. So holding on to the word holding on to the words in the Bible, holding on to the scripture verses that we listen to every day. We are to hold on to the breastplate of righteousness. So that is was protecting our heart and protect our chests, righteousness, being in right standing with the Christ living in HIS WILL NOT our will.

We are to be planted in peace. So that’s putting on the shoes of peace. That means that we’re ever going; we are grounded in the peace of God. He is the prince of peace. We have the shield of faith. And so that is what we get to protect ourselves from. I always think of Captain America with a shield. And the thing with a shield is that sometimes they break right, and you can use it, and it breaks. To me, that’s the picture of when we use it to fight the enemy. But the enemy took a hard swing, and maybe our faith was shaken. But guess what? Behind the faith, we have a helmet that holds our head and the helmet of salvation. Is where we get to where and that is our belief in Christ. So even though our faith can sometimes be shaken or broken on us, we do have salvation that guards our minds. And then we have the sword of the Spirit, the Spirit that dwells inside of us. So every day, the enemy comes to attack. He comes to kill and destroy, and he’s going to attack us at work. He’s going to attack us at home. He’s going to attack us through the news. And wherever he gets us. We remember that we have the truth, righteousness, peace. Faith, salvation, and we have the Holy Spirit that dwells inside of us to protect us from his schemes. So today, let us hold on to him.

Let us hold on to the armor of God. Let us hold on to our faith when standing against the enemy schemes.

Father God, we love you so much. And we thank you for giving us this armor. Lord, we thank you for righteousness. We thank you for the truth of Your Word. We thank you for the peace that you give us. We thank you for the faith that we have. We thank you for the salvation in your son Jesus Christ. We thank you for the Holy Spirit that dwells inside of us. We love you so much. We ask that you protect us. And we also ask that you continue to protect the people in Ukraine. We ask that you protect our world leaders as they make these decisions as they’re looking for discernment. Lord, we are praying for the situation overseas. We love you so much. And we ask that you continue to watch over us hear our prayers. We love you. Amen.

Hi, I'm Ali.
I want to encourage you on your faith journey!

I'm the coffee obsessed baker from Miami, FL who got too busy to find time to read scripture everyday. I knew my life was better with Jesus and I knew I wasn't the only one struggling with finding alone time with God every morning, so I put my dreams of opening a bakery aside and set out to produce a five minute daily devotional. What first started as an email chain, has now flourished into a beautiful community and I am so happy you are here!

We are a faith based community in pursuit of daily prayer. All it takes is five minutes - we know you're busy but He loves you still.
