Episode 465
TODAY’S READING
“Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the LORD, who makes you holy.”
Leviticus 20:8
I love this verse. And I know all the verses that are pretty similar to this, essentially saying that we are only holy because of Christ because of what he did for us. When we follow his decrees, when we follow his way when we are in righteous living or right standing with him, we are holy right, so we partake in holy activities by following and by doing the will of God. Now I like Matthew chapter 7: 14, and it says, But smallest the gate and narrow the road that leads to life. Only a few find it. Here we have a similar verse, and it says that the gate is small and the road is narrow, but it leads to life. And it’s just very clear that although we are all here a part of this life, we’re all we’re not all living with life and to truly live life. We have to be following his decrees; we have to be living in his way. And sometimes it’s really hard to do, so I know that it’s easy to mess up. Sin is absolutely everywhere. And so the temptation is easy to fall into. And it’s not something to, you know, really beat yourself up about because we are all humans, so we are so far from perfect, but it’s a good reminder that we have to try hard to find that small gate we have to try hard to stay on the narrow road we have to try hard to keep his decrees and follow them. Because holding this isn’t just granted to everybody. And we get to wear crown knowing that it is hard work, but it’s a huge payoff when we get to live in righteousness with him. Hold on to your holy friends. Remember that it’s not something that’s given to absolutely everybody. But even at that, you’re never alone. There are millions of people just like you.
Prayer
Father God, we love you, and we thank you for your instructions. Lord, we know that they are very clear. We follow your decrees, we follow them, and we know that that is what makes us holy. Following them makes us in right standing with you. And living a righteous lifestyle can be hard to Lord. Today we just pray for the strength to not fall into temptation. We pray for our weekends ahead of us and the weeks to come. We pray that we are always in righteous living with you, or we continue to pray for the people in Ukraine, Lord, continue to keep your hand over everything that is happening. We thank you in advance, and we love you so much. It is in your holy name that we pray. Amen.
