Episode 466

TODAY’S READING:

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,

Colossians 3:23

Happy Monday!

I went looking for scripture to help me this morning. Help me navigate coming back to work for yet another week.

Things have been hard at work. I am the Director of Customer Success at the Digital Marketing Agency I work for, and that means I oversee a team of people who work without clients one on one. My job is to deescalate situations, and long story short, last week was a hard week. Many situations needed my attention. Many instances where I had to step in and serve my team and my clients at the expense of getting yelled at, at times.

I like this verse because it was the reminder that I needed that this was a new week, and no matter what happened at work, I wasn’t serving human masters – but serving God’s people.

My clients have employees, and their success means there have been families that are fed.

We all do something, and we directly impact God’s people. Look at what you do and look at the influence you have. You might not see value in what you do, or maybe you do, but you’re just tired. Remind yourself that you are serving and working for the Lord every time you show up and do whatever you do.

PRAYER

Father God, today is Monday, and some of us are praying for extra strength. Some of us have had a tough few days, weeks, months at the office. Others of us are praying for new jobs. No matter what our career situation looks like, we all do something. We are entrepreneurs, people in school, people who work at home, in the home, wherever we find ourselves; we know that we are directly impacting your people. So we ask for the strength in remembering that today. When things get stressful, let us remember that we work for you, Lord, and not for Human masters. We love you with everything in us; it is in your Holy Name that we pray, AMEN!
