TODAY’S READING
And without faith, it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Hebrews 11:6
The reality is that a lot of times, people don’t acknowledge our Lord when they don’t acknowledge God. They don’t acknowledge Jesus, and then when something terrible happens, we fall to our knees, and we say, God, please help. And so that’s just recognizing that, you know, there is that little bit of faith that you do exist that the Lord exists and he can help us, and He will free us from whatever situation we may find ourselves in. But we ignore that faith every single day. And so, I don’t think that that’s necessarily our case.
I know that we’re a group of people who may be a little bit further along in our faith. Maybe that’s how you came to know the Lord when it came to a point where you had to turn over and surrender your life over to Him, and you were able to meet him at your knees, and he was able to meet you where you were. But maybe our situations are a little bit different. Maybe we do have the faith that he is there because we do believe in him, and we do ask and seek His face every single day. But there are many times that we can get in a raft with what goes on in the world or in wrapped with what goes on in our lives, and we forget to turn on our faith muscles; we forget to exercise those muscles, and today’s just encouraging to remember that we believe that he’s there.
And so we must seek Him earnestly. And that means to seek him on the good days and also the bad days, not just falling to our knees when things get hard, but truly looking for Him in all things, truly seeking His counsel in all things. Recently, Many and I picked up a new habit, and that is, believe it or not, to pray over every meal. And it is something that for generations people have done in the movies, and many couples and families do it at home. And we, for many, many years in our life, have over overlooked that. And it has been nice just to pause before eating and to just give thanks for what we have. And to give things not just for the food, but for the things that we’ve had up until that meal. So every single meal, there’s something needs to be thankful for. So, adopt that practice today before you eat, say thank you remind him that you seek His face earnestly in everything that you do.
Prayer
Father God, we love you, and we thank you that you meet us right where we are. Or maybe today, we’re falling to our knees for the first time seeking your face. Or maybe we’ve done it a million times before, but Lord, we are a community that believes in you. We are a community that have great faith in who you are and what you can do. So Lord, everything that happens in our life, we surrender that to you. We’re all facing different situations, different mountains, and different addictions. At the home, different situations in our careers. And so Lord will look at all that worries us. We look at all that keeps us up at night, and we give it to you. We hand it over to you. We thank you, and we earnestly seek your face. We love you. It is in your holy name that we pray, Amen.
